WordPress Pagination Not Working? (Quick Fix)

Is the WordPress pagination not working on your site when you visit page 2 or greater for blog post categories.

WordPress pagination not working on page 2 or greater

This usually happens when you use the custom permalink structure /%category%/%postname%/ which is exactly what I’m using on my site. I updated it recently for SEO purposes.

But this morning I noticed that as a result of the update, when I tried to visit page 2 for the category WordPress For Beginners, and other categories on my site, I was taken to a 404 not found error page.

If the same thing is happening to you, don’t worry, I have a quick and easy fix that I am going to share with you today in this WordPress tutorial.

Watch the video below where I show you how to fix the WordPress pagination not working error. Or if you prefer to follow text instructions, keep reading.

How to Fix the WordPress Pagination Not Working Problem

To fix the WordPress pagination 404 error go to plugins >> add new.

Search for the Post Category Prev-Next Link Fix plugin. Install and activate the plugin.

And that’s it! There are no plugin settings to configure. Told you it was a quick and easy fix. 😉

If you are using a plugin like WP Rocket or W3 Total Cache, clear the cache and clear your browser cache, too.

With the plugin installed and the cache cleared, review your site to see if the plugin fixed the problem. Let me know in the comments box below. I’d love to hear from you.

I hope this tutorial helped you fix the WordPress pagination not working issue.
